Will I be able to contact Canada easily from the school?

Yes, the school has high speed internet service though the campus.  Your apartment is equipped with Broadband. Internet access is easily obtained on the rest of the campus as well as in Shanghai.  Additionally, each teacher will be issued with a free cell phone for your use (after completion of two years the cell phone becomes your own personal property). With the purchase of an IP phone card a teacher can make international phone calls to Canada and nearly anywhere in China. 

A 100RMB IP phone card can be purchased for as low as 35 RMB.  Additionally you may purchase a plan for as low as 20 RMB a month that will allow you access to Canada, US or Australia for as little as .4RMB a minute in the teacher’s apartment, there is also a landline phone, where a teacher can dial out and receive a monthly phone bill.  However the cheapest way to call Canada or other countries is through Skype.

Internet Access is available in the apartment and each teacher will be issued a computer for their use while they are under contract to the school.
