Education Overview

As a staff, it is important to have a common lesson design for ESL learners and common expectations for reading,
writing, speaking, listening and thinking performance across the curriculum. The annual  AUGUST PROFESSIONAL
DEVELOPMENT DAYS discuss key information such as assessment results, ideas and methodology for ESL
learners. Questions and challenges regarding instructional needs, problems and potential solutions are discussed at
this orientation.

To support staff, a STAFF MENTORING PROGRAM is established for the school year. An outline of the process
occurs  at the August Professional Development Days.

During the course of the 2008-2011 school years, staff have worked with an education consultant and developed
both program and professional structures to guide and support instruction at Sino Canada High School.
In 2011-2013 the focus is on Common Assessment across the curriculum and is lead by the Department Heads
who are part of the SINO CANADA LEADERSHIP TEAM.

The use of the TEACHER REFLECTION FEEDBACK FORM, a  CLASSROOM FEEDBACK FORM, and
ASSESSMENT FOR LEARNING (SELF REFECTION) is used and integrated into teacher practices as a means to
enhance teaching and learning at Sino Canada High School.
